“TRICK OR TREAT?”

Marmara Private Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School 10-A students celebrated Halloween with an in-class activity within the scope of English Language Course.

The students were informed about the origins, history and traditions of Halloween. Following that there was a competition themed Halloween for the students. Vocabulary knowledge and listening skills were tested in the competition through various games; and the winner students was given a handmade, pumpkin-shaped cushion. At the end of the activity all students were given candies that were wrapped in Jack o’lantern shape. The students who learned about the history and traditions of Halloween, experience the one of the features of language as a cultural transmission tool.
