Marmara College at Thessaloniki Aristotelio College For “MUN”

A group of students from Marmara College with their teachers attended “Model United Nations” organization hosted by Aristotelio College in Thessaloniki, Greece between 1 and 5 March 2017.

The students, Sena Ecem Terzioğlu, Tuana Akbulut, İdil Türk, Ezgi Menteş, Fazıl Ahmet Cansızoğlu, İda Yaz İçbak, Nilüfer Su Yüce, Deniz Aras, Göksu Sönmez and Zeynep Akın represented the school successfully under the guidance of the teachers Neşe Sarışın, Burak Demirkazık, Seda Çevik and Funda Bayramoğlu. İdil Türk made the opening speech in the organization. In the sessions that lasted three day, realization of peace mission in Libya, tax evasion and money laundering, human smuggling, preventing international terrorism, sustainable development, UNESCO’s educational policies against violence, protecting children in war territories, antibiotic resistance issue, child marriage and press freedom were discussed in detail. The excitement of young individuals during those three days and their proposal for a better, peaceful and secure world was highly promising for the future. United Nations Delegate Maria Spyraki, who attended the closing ceremony as honorary guest, invited 15 Greek students to the United Nations Center Brussels. Moreover, the students had the opportunity to visit Alexandropolis, Komotini, Kavala and Thessaloniki to establish warm friendships with the Greeks.
