UNITED NATIONS DAY

United Nations Day was celebrated at Marmara Education Institutions on October 24th with guests from all over the globe.

The ceremony that took place in Hasan Ali Yücel hall started with the secondary school students’ messages of love, friendship and brotherhood for world peace. Afterwards, the founding purpose, principles and the works of United Nations were introduced. Students gave messages of unity and solidarity in German, French and Spanish. A student named Deniz Yılmaz read a poem titled United Nations Day by Mehmet Faruk Gürtunca. In addition, the piano recital of Rafael Pelizzer from Brazil and the presentation of her country by Lizeth Martinez from Colombia, who were educated in the current academic term at Marmara College as part of the “Rotary” program, were greatly appreciated by the audience. Also, the presentation of America by the American Rotary student Oscar Titus, presentations of Brazil, Ukraine and Italy by foreign students and the Persian music concert were very successful. During the program, Turkish reading of Nazım Hikmet’s poem “Let’s Give the World to the Children” by the Rotary Club students was much liked by the audience. At the end of the ceremony, the salsa dance show of Said Delgado and Erica San Vincente from Brazil exhilarated everyone. It was very impressive when everyone in the hall sang Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” in the name of world peace on the stage that was covered in colorful balloons.

After the ceremony, students toured the booths that presented different countries in the foyer, tasted flavors from different countries, sang along with the school orchestra and danced all together. It was a fun and educating day.
