Admission Policy

The student admission in the school is carried out within the frame of the following principles:
Marmara Private High School accepts the students for the prep class of the Marmara Private High School, where certain courses are given in English, and for the 9th grade in accordance with the quota determined by the school every year as follow:

  • Marmara Private High School students are required to take the exam organized by MEB (Ministry of National Education) at the end of the 8th grade and to achieve the base point determined by the school or according to the results of the Special Exam organized by the school.
  • Students studying at Marmara Private Middle School and meeting the admission criteria of Marmara Private High School can directly enrol in the prep class in Marmara Private High School.
  • English proficiency of the students in prep class is determined by the Proficiency Test (oral and written) by the commission consisting of the school’s foreign language teachers in accordance with the principals stated in Regulations on Secondary Schools Passing Grade Level and Exam by Ministry of National Education at the end of the academic year and at the beginning of the following academic year. The proficiency test measures whether the students attending prep class are ready for the 9th grade in which certain courses are given in English. To take the proficiency exam, the parents should notify the School in written at the time of the registration/admission. The registration of the students who will continue to study in the school shall be renewed between the dates determined in the work schedule for each academic year.
  • The transactions in relation to the transfer students are carried out in line with the provisions of the relevant articles of Private Educational Institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, provisions of the relevant articles of Ministry of National Education Regulation on Passing a Grade Level and Exam and the provisions of Ministry of National Education Directive on Secondary Schools Student Transfers. For the students who apply for transfer to the Marmara Private High School, Marmara Private Science High School and Marmara Private Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, there is a special exam to determine their success level prepared by the committee of the school in order for the admission of the student.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION FOR THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME AT MARMARA PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL

The process takes into consideration an average grade in English Language course, which should not be less than 70 % in 10th grade. Overall academic and personal evaluation on student performance by their teachers will help students be encouraged to sign up for DP. Students who can take on an intensive load of studies, have self-discipline to complete work in due time and feel that this program will fulfil their specific aspirations will take part in DP. The interested students will be reviewed and orally interviewed to see whether they meet the criteria of the IB student profile.

There will be pre-application requisites which they need to fulfil:

  • They will need to apply the latest by the 31st May.
  • A student’s 10th Grade final English Grade has to be a minimum 70 out of a 100.
  • The grade point average at the end of 10th Grade has to be a minimum 70 out of 100.
  • No subjects should have been failed.
  • Not being subject to any disciplinary action.

Admittance requisites:

  • The class and subject teachers as well as the school counsellor should give positive reviews about the student’s personal and academic performance.
  • Should Turkish and English interviews be required, a positive assessment from the selection committee members is required.
  • The approval of the College Principal is required in the final phase.
