Schools and students should work harder in order to realize the world sources consumed day by day and to make them sustainable… Hereby, Marmara Private College IB Geography teacher Sedat Toy and the students who are the members of "Sustainable Life and Discovery Club" organized a workshop named "First Steps for Air, Water, Soil and Sustainable Life and The Gardening” with the participation of Distinguished Taner Aksel. In the first section of the workshop consisting of two sections Taner Aksel as the speechmaker gave information on the sustainable life requirement, its principles and design, Air, Water, Soil and clean energy, self-production of food and the features of the natural structures. In the second section of the workshop, Taner Aksel demonstrated practically the assembly and operation principles of photovoltaic systems with solar energy. Moreover, demonstrated practically how to make compound fertilizer by transforming the natural wasted into soil and raised bed vegetable gardens in the workshop carried out in the farm located in the Marmara Private College campus. The students made raised beds for vegetables by using dry leaves, animal manure, organic kitchen wastes, cardboard boxes and the soil as the layer. In the workshop during a shiny day the students learnt very important information. Thanks to the workshop, our precious students learnt how to make contributions to the cycle of the natural system and provide natural solutions. The students and teacher from the project partner schools including Robert College, TED College, MEF Private High School, İstanbul Saint-Joseph French Private High School, Notre Dame De Sion French High School, Saint Michel French High School, Eyüboğlu College, and the guests schools including Galatasaray High School, Ayazağa Işık Private High School and Tevitol Türkeş İnanç Private College left our school happily in the end of the day. We thank distinguished Taner Aksel providing very precious information in the workshop and the participant schools.
