What is International Baccalaureate?

The International Baccalaureate Organisation was founded for the first time in1968 inGeneva, Switzerland and as a non-profit organisation. Needing to be completed in two-years, The IB Diploma Programme is an academically perfect, comprehensive, international educational programme. In all the schools where it is implemented, equal international standards are applied and students’ achievement is measured rigorously. The headquarters of IBO are located in Hague, whereas the Programme assessment centre is in Cardiff.

The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year comprehensive pre-university programme designed for students aged 16-19, attending the final two years of high school. This programme equips avid high school students at the end of their examinations period with an internationally recognised IB Diploma. It is aimed at highly-motivated students. Recipients of an IB Diploma have the opportunity of being accepted by the world’s leading universities.

On 3 September 2018, there were 6,398 programmes being offered worldwide, across 4,943 schools. The IB DP programme spanning over the final two years of high school, prepares students for further, university education. In our country, conforming to and having received IBO authorisation, the IB Diploma Programme is successfully implemented by 46 private schools including three state schools. A student successfully completing the IB Diploma Programme, alongside the Ministry of Education issued, earns the right to receive an IB Diploma. The success of the IB Diploma programme becomes possible with an active application of the actual programme. The outcomes of this programme become evident in a productive way throughout life. The Diploma programme is a comprehensive programme which enables the students to meet the requirements of the national educational systems. This programme combines the best aspects of national educational systems.
