Visual Arts

In the field of applied arts, Visual Arts Education is the one which emancipates the ability to create and design most. In our department, skilled and inclined students are orientated towards this field in accordance with their individual abilities from the 7th grade. And from the 1st grade, our students periodically hold individual or collective exhibitions, which are a great source of inspiration and motivation for them. Interested and inclined students are also orientated towards project studies in the field of visual arts.

The most prominent characteristic of the exhibitions held at our school is creativity that is the philosophy of the department and the fact that every kind of material which contribute to this creativity can be an object of art.

As the Department of Visual Arts, our objectives are as follows:

  • to acquire our students a creative way of thinking,
  • to acquire our students aesthetic sensitivity and inform them about visual values, 
  •  to raise interrogating, critical, thinking and grasping individuals who have respect for art and who are equipped with the virtues of collaboration, solidarity and responsibility that we aim to have our students acquire through atelier works.

1st GRADES

  • They attend activities that improve their world of imagination (Visual works out of the genres of various art forms, such as songs, folk songs, poems, short stories, tales, recollections, etc.)
  • They use lines in their visual works. They recognize different tissues by tissue studies. They express their feeligs and thought by visual art techniques.
  • They learn the main colours and how to form intermediate colours by mixing main colours. 
  • They visually express their thoughts on nature. They see the necessity of protecting the environment while organizing a life space for themselves as human beings. They can distinguish the qualities of a given work of art. They add the artist of a given work to their knowledge store.
  • They make two dimensional works. (They learn pastel, felt colour and water colour techniques on two dimensional surface.)
  • They carry out studies for improving their creativity and hand muscles using play dough materials.
  • They make three dimensional works. They use the elements of “longs-hort,” “big-small,” “thick-slim” in their visual works. They relate among different materials.
  • They make paper and paper works. They learn what is collage.
  • They can distinguish the qualities of a given work. They add the name of the artist of a given work to their knowledge store.
  • They can produce their individual visual works based upon insipiring elements such as various colours, figures, objects, etc. of a given work. They can express their feelings and thoughts by using cisual art techniques.
  • They experience the joy of sharing their works with others around by exhibiting them.

2nd GRADES

  • Attend activities that improve their world of imagination, and produce visual works out of the genres of various art forms, such as songs, folk songs, poems, short stories, tales, recollections, etc.
  • They produce works expressing their feelings. They express their feelings and thoughts by using cisual art techniques.
  • They learn easy printing techniques. They recognize that every object has a tissue of its own.
  • They make two dimensional works. (They learn pastel, felt colour and water colour techniques on two dimensional surface.)
  • They make paper and paper works. They form compositions out of all kinds of written and photographic materials by cutting and sticking them. 
  • They make three dimensional works. They make visual designs by choosing various objects of nature.
  • They can make various tissue studies by using different materials and miming tissue samples in their surrounding. They recognize and use simple geometrical figures.
  • They recognize main colours. They can make the operations of accumulation, lining up and installation. They express their feelings and thoughts by visual art techniques. They embellish their living environment with works they find pleasing.
  • They grasp the importance of living in a pleasant environment. They can tell you the properties of a give work of art. They can produce their individual visual works based upon insipiring elements such as various colours, figures, objects, etc. of a given work.
  • They experience the joy of sharing their works with others around by exhibiting them.

3rd GRADES

  • They produce works expressing their feelings. They express their feelings and thoughts by using cisual art techniques.
  • They produce works using lines. They give examples of lines from their plays. They recognize the kinds of lines.  
  • They produce visual designs by using geometrical figures. They can perceive the appearance of objects in spots.
  • They use line, colour, figure and spot connections in their works. They can perceive the appearance of objects in spots.
  • They produce colourful works. They can distinguish between main and intermediate colours. They discover the richness of colours by mixing them. They produce two dimensional works using various colour blends.
  • They produce works expressing their feelings and thoughts by using collage technique.
  • They produce three dimensional works using waste materials. They can make three dimensional designs bringing various or similar kind of materials together.
  • They produce two dimensional designs by easy printing techniques.
  • They add the artist of a given work to their knowledge store.
  • They can produce their individual visual works based upon insipiring elements such as various colours, figures, objects, etc. of a given work of art.
  • They produce visual designs using objects and entities they find pleasant. They have respect to different tastes of art. Scrutinizing entities (such as birds, flowers, houses, plants, etc.) in their surrounding, they recognize that they all have different shapes.  They produce individual works inspired from figures they see in their surrounding.
  • They experience the joy of sharing their works with others around by exhibiting them.

4th GRADES

  • They draw pictures by using various values of a colour. They discuss the relation of colours with feelings and thoughts. They express their feelings and thoughts by using visual art techniques. They distinguish between natural and artificial objects.
  • They recognize that colours reflect feelings and states of mind. They create compositions out of light, intermediate and dark values of colours.
  • They recognize central and symmetrical balance by examining the surrounding examples. They enjoy using lines in their two or three dimensional works. 
  • They can make constructions by using three dimensional simple geometrical figures. They recognize different perspectives of nature and objects. 
  • They discuss on the figural contrast in their surrounding. They produce works expressing their feelings. They express their feelings and thoughts by using visual art techniques.. 
  • They distinguish between two and three dimensional visual artworks. They recognize that three dimensional works of art display different views from different perspectives.
  • They resognize that each living being has a beauty of its own.
  • They know the distinctions between painting and photography. They know about the natural and historical beauties in their immediate and distant vicinity.
  • They recognize that they can use natural and artificial entities in their works. They can distinguish between original artworks and their reproductions.
  • They experience the joy of sharing their works with others around by exhibiting them.

Guidance and Psychological Counselling

  • Guidance and Psychological Counselling department, led by specialized psychological counsellors with the aim of providing that the students improve and realize themselves in a healthy environment render service as a part of the whole education programme.
  • Guidance and Psychological Counselling department grounds on the preventive counselling approach which adopts the idea that every individual is precious in herself/himself and has the potential to solve her/his problems and to improve and realize herself/himself.
