* Turkish Branch

As Turkish department, our aim is to raise students who:

  • Know about Atatürk and affectionately understands him; who are devoted to his principles and revolutions and are modern
  • Adopt the rules of Turkish language; has advanced skills of speaking, writing, listening and expressing
  • Love and maintain Turkish language
  • Know about poets and writers writing in Turkish and follow them
  • Acquired the skills of scientific, critical, correct, cponstructive and creative thinking in line with the objectives of Turkish language course
  • Constantly develop themselves by using technological equipments
  • Give priority to understanding, comprehension, explanation and interpretation as opposed to rote learning
  • Grasp the importance of reading, value books and make reading an integral part of their lives
  • Follow the developments in Turkish and world literature
  • Are informed about the agenda via media organs and can express opinions about the agenda
  • Are able to talk before a public for 5 to 10 minutes without falling into repetition andf making mistakes
  • Read at least one book a month
  • Have the habit of taking notes and of benefiting from these notes in the best way possible
  • Unearth their creative powers with the oral and written presentations, drama performances, projects and contests conducted in the school
  • Acquire the habit and skill of writing with a legible, practical, beautiful and neat handwriting
  • Complete the Turkish language questions in the presents exam system (SBS) correctly without having difficulty
  • Are character-wise, honest, respectful towards elders and affectionate towards minores.

* Social Sciences Branch

As Marmara Education Instituions, our aim is to enrich our student-centered Social Sciences courses with various activities with a view to develop the knowledge and skill of the students by using all technological.

In line with this approach, Social Sciences lesson,

  • Provides that the student is disposed to keep the values of democratic and modern national values by making them grasp the significance of Atatürk’s principles and reforms for the political, social, cultural and economic development of Turkish Republic.  
  • Prioritizes the realization of learning by providing the improvement of knowledge, concepts, values and skills.
  • Supports students so as to raise them as healthy and content individuals whose mental, moral, social and cultural aspects are improved within the scope of their own customs.
  • Provides that the students raise as individuals who are aware of their own rights, fulfill their responsibilities and are sensitive towards social problems.
  • Provides that the students become aware of their responsibilities while making them acquire the habit of individual and social collaboration.
  • Provides that the students raise as individuals who regard the world their home, are able to create solution to world problems and consider themselves world citizens.
  • Raises individuals who grasp their basic civil rights and responsibilities and are aware of their rights and responsibilities in the face of the constitution and law. Accepts every students as an autonomous individual.  
  • Shows awareness for the improvement of the students’ expected qualities by shedding light to their prospective lives. 
  • Encourages students to think, to interrogate and to exchange their views. 
  • Gives importance to the internalization of universal values centering on national identity.
  • Raises free-thinking individuals having a critical approach, an interrogative mind and tolerance.
  • History lessons helps the improvement of the students’ skill of reflecting on and making comparisons among the causes of social, economic and political developments of the century they live in. 
  • Geography lessons introduces the students with the natural beauties and riches of our country beginning from their immediate vicinity.

EVALUATION CRITERIA OF SOCIAL SCIENCES LESSONS

Nowadays Social Sciences lessons have gone far beyond reading, comprehending and explicating what is read. Our students learn to improve their skills of reflecting on and interpreting the rapidly changing social structure, geographical condition and historical process, and of forming their own opinions about these with the help of social sciences lessons. Our students improving themselves with the help of these lessons acquire not only the skills of interpretation, causation and discursive thought requested from them in the current examination system, but also problem solving strategies that make things easier for them in their lives. 

*Science & Maths Branch

Science department adopts a scientific and critical approach that is based on research and interrogation instead of rote-learning; arouses the students’ interest in physical sciences; supports theoretical studies with practices such as experiments, excursions, observations and research, and encourages the students to follow technological developments. In line with this approach, students acquire the necessary skills and learn the necessary methods and techniques. These skills and techniques lead our students to success in their prospective educational and Professional lives as individuals who are sensitive to the society and the environment, who know how to learn, who give importance to physical and mental health and who are aware of the creative powers of the human race. As stated in Maths curriculum, Mathematics is not only a technique of calculation and assessment but a system of thought and inference encompassing all these.

While part of mathematics requires observation and research, the students should as well grasp the importance of eliciting particular facts within the scope of general way of thinking.

Students should grasp that we are living in a rapidly changing world, therefore mathematics and mathematicians are essential for the production of new inventions and works in this context of rapid change and development. 

In teaching of mathematics, teachers help and guide the students who have different abilities and ways of learning to investigate and research the subjects and examples, to create their own problem solving methods and to share their ideas with friends.
