Visual Arts

In the field of applied arts, Visual Arts Education is the one which emancipates the ability to create and design most.

  • In our department, skilled and inclined students are orientated towards this field in accordance with their individual abilities from the 7th grade. And from the 1st grade, our students periodically hold individual or collective exhibitions, which are a great source of inspiration and motivation for them. Interested and inclined students are also orientated towards project studies in the field of visual arts.
  • The most prominent characteristic of the exhibitions held at our school is creativity that is the philosophy of the department and the fact that every kind of material which contribute to this creativity can be an object of art.

As the Department of Visual Arts, our objectives are as follows:

  • to acquire our students a creative way of thinking,
  • to acquire our students aesthetic sensitivity and inform them about visual values, 
  • to raise interrogating, critical, thinking and grasping individuals who have respect for art and who are equipped with the virtues of collaboration, solidarity and responsibility that we aim to have our students acquire through atelier works.

5th GRADES

  • Attend activities that improve their world of imagination (Visual works out of the genres of various art forms, such as songs, folk songs, poems, short stories, tales, recollections, etc.)
  • Make colourful and original visual compositions with spots, splashes and speckles citing from the surrounding entities that make an effect of spot. They enjoy producing original works with 3D materials that give the effect of spot and line. They distinguish between cold and warm colours. They produce visual works by using contrast colours. They recognize lack of colour harmony around them.
  • Produce visual works in genres such as fable and memoir. They express their feelings by way of visual arts techniques. They recognize natural and historical beauties in their immediate and distant vicinity and use them as a source for their visual works.
  • Distinguish between the figures of artist and artizan. They are keen on visiting places like museums, art galleries, historical sites, monuments, etc. They express their feelings by way of visual arts techniques. They make preparations for the year end exhibitions. They enjoy sharing their visual works with others.  

6th GRADES

  • Make graphical works by lines (the spot and line effects are used in 3D works and sport and lines are used in creating motion effect on surface).
  • Make still-life works (they discuss how artists use light and shadow to designate the space. They learn to use light and shadow to create 3D effect). They learn chromatics and the story of the colours. (They recognize that colours reflect emotions and moods. They prepare compositions with light-middle span-dark colour values recognizing that every colour has a stain value.)
  • Learn the language of motifs and patterns. (They can give examples from our national cultural legacy and make visual studies reflecting and promoting the national culture.)
  • They exercise on Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” (They express ideas and emotions that are possible to be expressed in artworks. And they make visual designs on the basis of impressions they get from the artworks presented to them.
  • Make visual designs by using various materials.  

7th GRADES

  • Make graphical works using lines (They use the effect of spot and line in 3D works and in creating effect of motion on surfaces).
  • Make coloured stil-life works and learn chromatics. (They recognize that colours reflect emotions and moods. They prepare compositions with light-middle span-dark colour values recognizing that every colour has a stain value.)
  • Make charcoal works (they discuss how artists use light and shadow to designate the space. They learn to use light and shadow to create 3D effect).
  • Make abstract design studies.
  • Portrait knowledge and portrait drawing (the elements of the portrait and various expressions of emotions in the portraits). Collage studies.
  • They exercise on Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” (They express ideas and emotions that are possible to be expressed in artworks. And they make visual designs on the basis of impressions they get from the artworks presented to them.
  • Visual designs by using various materials.  


8th GRADES

  • Make graphical works using lines (They use the effect of spot and line in 3D works and in creating effect of motion on surfaces). 
  • Coloured stil-life works. Organization in Picture and chromatics. (They recognize that colours reflect emotions and moods. They prepare compositions with light-middle span-dark colour values recognizing that every colour has a stain value.)
  • Make charcoal works (they discuss how artists use light and shadow to designate the space. They learn to use light and shadow to create 3D effect).
  • Abstract design studies.
  • Portrait knowledge and portrait drawing (the elements of the portrait and various expressions of emotions in the portraits). Collage studies.
