As the Physical Sciences teachers of Marmara Private Secondary School, with our student-centered education model far from stereotyped information, we aim at raising students who can grasp the mathematical thought system, who are equipped with essential mathematical skills (problem solving, reasoning, making connections, generalisation, communication, affective and psycho development) and who succeed in putting these skills into practice blending them with their individual abilities

The Objectives of Mathematics Course:

In Mathematics courses our students;

• grasp the concepts and systems of mathematics, make connections among them and use these concepts and systems both in daily life and in other fields of life.
• acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for receiving education in mathematics and in other fields.
• express their own mathematical thought and way of reasoning within the process of solving mathematical problems.
• use the terminology and language of mathematic correctly in order to explicate and share their mathematical thoughts in a logical way. 
• use their skills of prediction and of making mathematical operations in their mind. 
• develop problem solving strategies so as to use them in the solution of daily life problems. 
• perform modelling and relate these models to verbal and mathematical expressions.
• develop a positive attitude towards mathematics.
• appreciate the power of mathematics and its structure consisting of relational webs. 
• develop an intellectual keenness in general.  
• grasp the historical progress of mathematics, its significant role in the progress of human thought and the importance of using it in other fields.
• make percentage, profit and loss, discount calculations. 
• improve their characteristics of systematization, attention, patience and responsibility.  
• increase their powers of research, knowledge production and use.
• make connections between mathematics and art developing aesthetic perceptions.
• know geometrical figures and forms, grasp the relations among them and can make area and volume calculations.
• grasp the basic concepts of probability and benefit from these in expressing their knowledge and thoughts.

The Projects and Studies Carried Out within the Scope of Mathematics Course:

• “This is My Work” Project is carried out within the scope of mathematics courses in order to develop the students’ skills of creativity, technology use and research, etc.
