Best Buddies, which is an active project in 52 countries that aims to provide friendship between individuals with intellectual disabilities and healthy individuals mutually and on equal footing, has been carried out by the voluntary students of Marmara Education Institutions since 2013-2014 academic year. The students carry out their activities in the 2018-2019 academic year, too.

The matching between the students of Marmara Education Institutions Best Buddies Turkey Club and Mediha Turhan Tansel Application School and Rehabilitation Center was made by the teachers. Afterwards, the students made their phone calls and arranged their one-to-one meetings. The meetings were fun for the students. After the one-to-one meetings, the first activity was planned for the students of Marmara Education Institutions Best Buddies Turkey Club and Mediha Turhan Tansel Application School and Rehabilitation Center to participate with the guidance of club teachers Melek Karahan and Damla Uluöz Memiş. Mediha Turhan Tansel Application School and Rehabilitation Center was visited as a part of this first activity. Volunteer students attended their friends’ classes. They had a fun time while having an opportunity to observe a different class atmosphere. A visit by Mediha Turhan Tansel Application School and Rehabilitation Center Students to our school is planned for the second activity.
